It is used to prevent suction of water from the vacuum container into the DVTT-Q in the vacuum pump. A liquid drawn into the vacuum pump can reduce their performance considerably, or in the worst case, destroy the pump or the pressure sensors. Too high water level or restless water may be the cause of the unwanted suction.
The water trap is installed using two hoses between the vacuum vessel and the vacuum pump. It works on the principle of the Woulffschen bottle and any existing liquid in the suction hose is collected at the bottom of the water trap and can not get into the vacuum pump from there.
The water trap is thus an equipment to protect the entire vacuum control.
